Production at RATIONAL takes place in natural, manageable, entire processes, so-called assembly islands. Here, as contractors in the company, staff largely assume responsibility and make the decisions needed to carry out their duties. Each employee assembles a complete unit in line with the "One Piece Flow" concept. His/her name on the type label is a personal endorsement of unit quality.
RATIONAL's modern Production and Supply process has been singled out for distinction many times during recent years. Thus in 1999 RATIONAL was named "Plant of the Year" in an industry-wide competition run by the economic journal "Produktion" and management consultants A. T. Kearney.
In 2002 RATIONAL won the Bavarian Quality Award. In the "Best Plant 2002" competition RATIONAL came joint second with Heidelberger Druckmaschinen and Hewlett Packard.
