In 2016, the Mitsubishi lift factory in Shanghai got a new staff restaurant equipped with modern kitchen appliances. On three separate floors, the restaurants each have their own kitchen and in turn are each equipped with a SelfCookingCenter® 201.
Well-trained staff prepares around 3,500 meals a day, of which 1,300 breakfasts, 2,000 lunches and around 100 evening meals and midnight snacks. With the support of RATIONAL, many new dishes, including Chinese and European cuisine as well as cakes and desserts, were developed and introduced.
"We attach great importance to nutrition and healthy dishes. The health-awareness of employees is growing continuously. The objective is to gradually replace deep-fried dishes with steamed and roasted dishes," explains Sun Wen.
He continues: "Before, we used to fry chicken in oil, and now we prepare it in the combi-steamer. This saves us up to 90 % in oil and is much healthier."

On holidays, special dishes are offered for employees to take home with them. Holidays and New Year's are therefore the busiest time in the kitchen: on top of the daily canteen food, a thousand additional dishes also need to be provided at the same time.
