Salty's opened its doors over 40 years ago in downtown Halifax on the harbour. They advertise that they are “about as close to the Halifax Harbour as it gets.” Patrons can literally sail in for a meal.

The menu at Salty's features endless fresh seafood options - fresh Atlantic lobster and salmon, freshly shucked oysters, and much more. They even feature a seafood casserole with scallops, salmon, haddock, and shrimp with lemon dill sauce and a parmesan crust.

With downtown capturing a lot of tourists who come looking for great seafood, Salty's tends to be a popular location to stop by.

Their restaurant features 120 seats and breathtaking views, making Salty's an attractive location to host events. Their restaurant is an excellent choice for showing those from out of town some of the freshest seafood that Halifax has to offer.

Since Salty's has a strong reputation for their seafood, it puts the pressure on the kitchen to consistently provide the same highquality dishes day after day. Their regulars come in looking for the same great dishes, and new customers come in expecting to be wowed. Brendan Morrissy, owner of Salty's, shares “Since we started using RATIONAL, the biggest improvements we saw, was the increase in the quality and consistency of each meal served. The RATIONAL Solution.

Prior to having RATIONAL in their kitchen, Salty's relied on a series of convection ovens that the staff had to spend over two hours a day scrubbing. Owner Brendan Morrissy shares that even when they bought new convection ovens, “After a month, you couldn't see through the glass no matter how much you scrubbed it.” Installing the SelfCookingCenter® helped to eliminate this issue. “Now we stick in two tablets before we shut down at night and come back to like-new units in the morning. It saves us a lot of money on labour.”

When asked what their favourite feature was, Brendan mentioned he likes both the built-in cooking programs and that he has the ability to add his own custom programs. “We use quite a few of the programs that are built in, but I also love that I can put the unit in manual mode. It can be crucial for a traditional chef.”

Brenden was impressed by what a difference RATIONAL made in his business, compared to his traditional equipment. “After installing our RATIONAL unit here at Salty's, it was a simple decision to put them into my other restaurant next door, McKelvie's.”
