Step into the bustling halls of Jewel Changi Airport in Singapore and you will notice a wonderful aroma of Hainanese chicken curry with pot pies and bread coming from a beautiful store with British colonial-era decor. This is The Hainan Story, which serves traditional Hainanese-Singaporean food with a modern twist. With four different concepts of eateries – Bakery, the QSR-model Coffee House, the kiosk-based Coffee & Toast, and their restaurant Chapter series, The Hainan Story aimed to celebrate the history of Hainanese immigrants in Singapore and their role in shaping Singapore cuisine to how they are today.
