The concept was developed in cooperation with school authorities and the City of Kiel. The school needed a solution for 500 diners, who would be eating in five shifts for room capacity reasons. Lunch was also to be used as an opportunity to foster students’ social skills. Under the concept, each class has its own table, which the children set and supply with food themselves.
The children learn to serve portions by themselves. After the meal, the children clear the tables again, and the next “shift” begins with another round of table setting. Some meals are delivered warm; others are regenerated and supplemented with fresh components.
